Growing happy, healthy smiles for infants, children, and adolescents

Pediatric Dentistry of Columbia

IMPORTANT UPDATE

UPDATE: COVID-19, June 8, 2020

We have begun a phased-in reopening of the office. Our goal has always been to grow happy, healthy smiles for infants, children, and adolescents while maintaining a safe and friendly environment. We have always been exceptionally conscientious while following the recommendations of the Maryland State Health Department, ADA, and the CDC and will continue to do so.

For those that know us already, you'll see familiar faces but notice some differences in your pre-appointment responsibilities, what we wear in the office, and how the appointment flows. Those of you that will be meeting us for the first time, we welcome you and look forward to meeting you. We can’t wait to show you all of the amazing changes and improvements we’ve made to the office in order to ensure your safety, and the safety of our staff.

We have found that children do better in environments when they are familiar, feel comfortable, and know what to expect. Therefore, we have created a video with images of the changes we have made to ensure the safety of our staff, our patients and families, and our community overall.

We feel that it would be beneficial to show your children the video and let them know what to expect when coming to our office.

Listed below are just a few of the changes we have made so far:

Screening of every patient will take place BEFORE you enter our office. These screenings help us verify that you or your household family members have not had any COVID-like symptoms or exposure to anyone with COVID-19 for last 14 days. Please be patient with us, as this means that our e-mails and our phone calls will be little longer.

• To maintain social distancing and minimize the number of people in the building at one time, we ask that you call us BEFORE entering the building. We are limiting the waiting room to be occupied by one family at any given time. Once we know you have arrived, we will ask you a second verbal screening, we will either ask you to please wait in the car until the waiting room is clear, or we will kindly invite you to wait inside.

• To ensure the safety of all of our staff and families, we will be requiring anyone over the age of 2 years, to be wearing a facial covering prior to entering the office. Don’t worry, you will not be the only one wearing a mask! Everyone in our office will be wearing a mask as well, including the reception team. We have also installed Plexiglass Shields at all of the check-in and check-out stations to protect you and our staff.

• Our greeter will kindly screen you by taking your temperature at the door prior to entry to the office. As long as you pass that, we will have you enter the office and go right into the bathroom to wash your hands. Then, we will do a quick pulse oxidation screening and bring you right back to a treatment room.

• You may hear a light hum around the office. Those are our brand new air purifiers. They will be constantly cleaning and purifying our air.

• Our providers will be “garbed up” with even more Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) than before including specialized masks, face shields, head coverings and gowns. Often times, the clinical staff will wear multiple masks including one that is a Level 3 surgical mask or N95. This is for the safety of everyone.

• Our toys and books are still on “vacation” and will remain to do so until it is appropriate for them to come back.

• Remember, even though there will be a physical barrier (extra PPE) between us at all times, you will still receive the same compassionate care and amazing customer service from our entire staff!

We are excited for your return to our office and look forward to seeing you soon! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to give us a call at (410) 740-0144.

UPDATE: COVID-19, May 7, 2020

Governor Hogan and the Secretary of Health have cleared elective health procedures (including dentistry). At this time, we ask for your continued patience and understanding while we await delivery of our back ordered PPE supplies (most of our PPE supply was donated to our medical colleagues during this crisis). We look forward to seeing your family soon and will be sure to keep you updated!

Additionally, Dr. Doshi and our administrative staff will be available to field your questions and concerns daily via phone and/or email. As recommended, please stay home and stay healthy!

UPDATE: COVID-19, April 5, 2020
